W e are very happy to announce that Ninad Bondre has joined our team as Managing Editor. Ninad has had diverse roles in academia, publishing and at the science-policy interface. He brings insights into many aspects of science communication, particularly in the field of climate and environmental change. At Elevate he will be responsible for working with our clients to tailor, develop and produce high-impact science communications solutions, manage our editorial support services, and contribute to our high-end trainings on science communication.
Before joining us, Ninad was the Senior Science Editor and Advisor for the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP), which was hosted by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. In that role, he was instrumental in developing a wide range of science communication and policy-related projects related to climate and environmental change. For example, he was responsible for the editorial direction and management of the Global Change magazine, coordinated inter-and transdisciplinary research networks on climate change, and informed international policy processes such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Prior to IGBP, Ninad was an Associate Editor with the prestigious international journal Nature Geoscience, where he was responsible for publishing some of the world’s best research in the solid Earth sciences. He also commissioned and edited reviews, commentaries and perspectives on a wide range of topics such as carbon sequestration, natural resources, petrology and geomorphology. Ninad obtained his doctoral degree in geology (with a focus on volcanology) from Miami University (Ohio, USA) and followed that with a brief postdoctoral stint at the same university.
We are very excited to welcome Ninad on board!
